Apple has overnight released last week’s update to XProtect, bringing it to version 5362, for all Macs. As usual it doesn’t release information about what security issues this update might address. This is a major update with many additions and changes.
This version adds 15 new Yara rules for MACOS.ADLOAD.FOST, MACOS.ANGRYORB.KECO, MACOS.ANGRYORB.LOITHE, MACOS.BOATLOAD.GAPRDO, MACOS.BRUSQUEBARNACLE.AEZLPAST, MACOS.CONFUSEDCABAL.CHBRIMA, MACOS.CONFUSEDCABAL.PIAIPRA, MACOS.CONFUSEDCABAL.RERSKEA, MACOS.CONFUSEDCABAL.CHBRCOSLA, MACOS.CONFUSEDCABAL.ENAGIMA, MACOS.CONFUSEDCABAL.DYLOA, MACOS.REGRESSIVESALMON.B6OSST, MACOS.SHADYSHOELACE.HEHEBACO, MACOS.SHADYSHOELACE.PAAUSE and MACOS.SHADYSHOELACE.PAKEUN, removes the Yara rule for MACOS.ADLOAD.FMT, and amends the Yara rules for MACOS.SHADYSHOELACE.LOADCO, MACOS.ANGRYORB.RUC2FO, MACOS.ANGRYORB.RUCOX8.
In the Osascript rules in XPScripts.yr, it adds six new rules for MACOS.OSASCRIPT.COTA, MACOS.OSASCRIPT.RELABYSH, MACOS.OSASCRIPT.REETRE, MACOS.OSASCRIPT.COIMA, MACOS.OSASCRIPT.COLOA and MACOS.OSASCRIPT.SYPR, amends the rule for MACOS.OSASCRIPT.SHLAMAA, and removes the rule for MACOS.OSASCRIPT.SYPR
In older versions of macOS you can check whether this update has been installed by opening System Information via About This Mac, and selecting the Installations item under Software.
A full listing of security data file versions is given by SilentKnight and SystHist for El Capitan to Golden Gate available from their product page. If your Mac hasn’t yet installed this update, you can force it using SilentKnight or at the command line.

Sequoia, Tahoe and Golden Gate systems only
This update has also been released for Sequoia and later via iCloud. If you want to check it manually, use the Terminal command
sudo xprotect check
then enter your admin password. If that returns version 5362 but your Mac still reports an older version is installed, you should be able to force the update using
sudo xprotect update
which should now work fine for Golden Gate as well.
