Apple has just pushed an update to the data files used by XProtect, bringing its version number to 2159 dated 12 May 2022.

Apple doesn’t release information about what this update adds or changes, and obfuscates the identities of malware detected by XProtect using internal code names.

This update adds three new detection signatures for MACOS.e71e847, MACOS.1940318 and MACOS.275ff12, which have yet to be identified by their normal names.

You can check whether this update has been installed by opening System Information via About This Mac, and selecting the Installations item under Software.

If your Mac has not yet installed this update, you can force an update using SilentKnight, LockRattler, or at the command line.
