Apple has released Ventura 13.5.2, an urgent security update

Apple has just released the update to macOS Ventura 13.5.2, an urgent security update, to address a vulnerability in processing images that is being actively exploited. It’s around 1.9 GB to download to Apple silicon Macs, and 475 MB for Intel models. Software Update can also be used to successfully update Viable/Vimy VMs from 13.5.1.

macOS build number for 13.5.2 is 22G91.

There are no firmware updates to Intel T2 or Apple silicon Macs.

Safari remains at version 16.6 (18615.3.12.11.2), as in 13.5, and there are no changes in version or build numbers of other bundled apps. The only change in /System/Library is a single-point build increment to ImageIO.framework, which remains at version 3.3.0 with a build number of 2387.7.4 (up from 2387.7.3).

If you’re wondering why this wasn’t released as a Rapid Security Response (RSR), that’s most probably because, now that Ventura has entered its first year of security-only maintenance, it no longer gets RSRs, which are reserved for Sonoma.
