Apple has released Sonoma 14.1 update, and security updates to Ventura and Monterey

Apple has just released the first update to macOS Sonoma, taking it to version 14.1, as well as security updates in Ventura 13.6.1 and Monterey 12.7.1. Download size of Sonoma 14.1 for Intel Macs is 1.97 GB, and for Apple silicon Macs is around 3.5 GB.

Apple silicon Macs are updated to an iBoot version of 10151.41.12, and Intel Macs with T2 chips to firmware version 2020.41.1.0.0 (iBridge: 21.16.1069.0.0,0). The build number of the release version of macOS 14.1 is 23B74, and it comes with Safari version 17.1 (19616.2.9.11.7). Safari 17.1 is also available for Ventura and Monterey.

Apple claims that Sonoma 14.1 fixes two bugs, one in which Location Services in System Settings might be reset, and the other that could prevent encrypted external drives from mounting. There are also two new features reported: Favourites in Music has been expanded and can be filtered; warranty status for AirPods, Beats headphones and earbuds are now available in System Settings.

Security release notes are now available for Sonoma, Ventura and Monterey. For Sonoma there are 33 fixes in all, including one fixed vulnerability in the kernel, and several in WebKit. None of the vulnerabilities fixed are reported as being known to be exploited, though.

I will post a detailed look at what has been updated in Sonoma 14.1 later this evening.

I have now updated firmware versions used by SilentKnight, and those in articles here, to reflect the changes brought by these macOS updates.

Thanks to Mr. Macintosh for the announcement.
