OverSight: watching out for those watching you

Some malware is downright sinister, even though the damage it does may not be particularly serious. For OS X / macOS, malware dubbed Eleanor, Crisis, and Mokes (and some others) are known for the ability to spy on you through a built-in FaceTime webcam or an internal microphone.

Objective-See has just released a brand new tool named OverSight which, once installed, runs automatically when you log in. This monitors the status of those built-in devices, and sends a notification when either becomes active.

If you’d rather not have some hacker somewhere keeping their eye or ear on you, you can read more here, from where you can also download your free copy of OverSight.

Thanks to Patrick Wardle for another invaluable security tool.
