I would guess that column format must be the most popular for Finder views in OS X.
I strongly suspect that the majority of us who use column format in OS X have encountered the bug, whereby switching folder sometimes loses the right-hand divider of the rightmost column being displayed. Although not catastrophic, it is tedious then to have to fiddle around switching folders to recover the correct divider placement.
This bug has been prevalent in OS X for at least the last two years, since OS X 10.9 Mavericks. And it is still just as bad in 10.11 El Capitan. I whinged about it here. It must make its presence known daily on the Macs of senior staff at Apple, including Sir Jonathan Ive.
Although an intermittent bug, I cannot believe that Apple is not aware of it, nor that it is so difficult to fix that in two years no Apple software engineer has been clever enough to do so.
According to Dieter Rams’ eighth principle, good design is thorough down to the last detail. This last detail has been left in a broken state for much too long. Apple: please fix it in 10.11.1.
