To recap, having given a little time for the rush of early adopters to settle, I spent the best part of three days preparing my Windows laptop so that it might be upgraded to Windows 10. Exhausted and frustrated, I gave up a week ago when Microsoft reported that it did not know whether it could be upgraded, and suggested that I tried later.
Today I went through the HP software update and Windows update rituals again, at the end of which the magic Windows 10 update icon appeared in the right place.
But even now, two weeks after release, all I could do was “reserve Windows 10”. Maybe some time in “the coming days or weeks” it might be ready to download. This is not so much a rollout as a stroll out.
