Q&A: Coping with ADC on a Cinema Display

Q I have an old Apple Cinema Display, model M8149, which is in perfect condition and works beautifully. How can I connect it to a new Mac mini?

A The current Mac mini offers either HDMI or Thunderbolt digital video output.

Your gorgeous Cinema Display has an ADC connector, but unfortunately there does not appear to be a single adaptor that will go straight between them. The recommended solution is two in combination, first to convert HDMI or Mini DisplayPort to DVI, then to ADC. The first is widely available, but the latter is becoming harder to obtain, and you may see some offered at much higher prices.
