If you’ve upgraded to Mojave, there are a couple of odd things you may have noticed in SystHist and T2M2. Help is at hand.
T2M2
When Time Machine backs up an APFS volume, it works quite differently from the way it did on HFS+. Explored here using log entries from Mojave.
More friendly, it runs checks in the background as much as possible, and has improvements in displaying results.
Do you work from a normal user account rather than an admin one? This should let you check Time Machine using the T2M2 app.
Should fix a bug in which T2M2 reports an error message rather than completing an analysis of Time Machine backups.

All these have now been updated and should pass Gatekeeper checks and run on both Sierra and High Sierra.
Test versions of LockRattler and T2M2 which shouldn’t have any problems getting out of Gatekeeper’s quarantine.
