Put TextEdit or Preview into the background when they haven’t got an open window, and they quit automatically, don’t they? Actually they don’t, they just become zombies.
Each year, the last major version of macOS is abandoned, incomplete and still full of bugs. Apple needs to reconsider, and complete the cycle by bringing them to marketable quality before moving on.
