Taken before firing (‘take aim’), it lasted in AOL (it stands for AOL Instant Messenger) for 20 years from 1997 (released in 1997, it was discontinued 20 years later). (The AIM protocol was supported by iChat, which was also the first AIM client for Mac OS X.)
