Mojave’s handling of Rich Text in Dark Mode is now broken in several places, including the new version of TextEdit, in QuickLook, and Pages.

Not as large as the previous update to Mojave, it still replaces a lot of apps but Apple documents almost no changes. Here’s a summary of the detail.
Not mentioned in the release notes, the new version of TextEdit is a bold attempt to provide a Dark Mode which is infuriating, confusing, and inconsistent. Avoid it.
Now lets you set your own default font and size applied to all new windows, and offers better reduced contrast appearance in both Dark and Light modes.
