Surely this Act was about terrorism and serious crime, wasn’t it? Why should I need to do anything different now it is law?
Seven years ago, I compared rising surveillance to the vile practices of the Stasi. Now it is happening: email, webcam, and more private communications are being scanned in bulk.
We are only too painfully aware of the continuing drive to increase powers of surveillance in the name of the ‘war on terror’. Just don’t let the electorate know that precious little surveillance has anything to do with that.
