How can I squeeze a 12 MB PDF so that I can send it via email?

I am assembling an opera using Pages and Finale, into a PDF in Preview. Sometimes pages are replaced with blanks. How can I get this to work?
I used to use Adobe’s Virtual Printer to batch print folders of documents to PDF. Can you suggest a suitable replacement?
